Choosing to Serve the Lord ,My Household & I

Hello everyone it’s Lindizgani Again . Welcome back to the weekly She is authentic podcast . This week we are looking at choosing to serve the Lord and Him alone, My household and I , and how this is important in building a legacy

So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.’ “Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Joshua 24:13-15 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/jos.24.13-15.NIV

Serving God could be described as working for God ,but also worshiping God , loving God , obeying God . Being available for Him.

In building a legacy it’s important to recognise how serving the Lord can make such a big positive impact in my life and in the life after me.

Serving God is benefit and privilege in our lives but also in the lives of our children or those In our care.

The bible says in Genesis 22:18 – and through your offspring shall the earth be blessed because you obeyed My voice.

Luke 1:50 says “His mercy is for those who fear Him from generation to generation” . Our lives are not just for ourselves. We need to build a culture of service in our children, and to let them really know about the God we serve . That as a family we serve God .

I grew up in a family of 5 where I remember church was not an option the only times where church didn’t happen was when maybe you’re feeling sick . If we were away you had to find a church there. I remember it was the same with anyone who stayed with us. They had to come to church with us because that was the type of family my parents where raising. God was such an important part our lives. My parent’s were probably the closest things to perfect I knew. I am the person I am now because of the choices my parents made regarding our service to God.

As parent it starts with us , in my 28 years (yes everyone I’m 28 now it was my birthday yesterday ). I have learnt that if you want your kids to serve God it starts with you as a parent. So many Christian parents come to me and say oh please encourage my child to come to church ,encourage them to serve. Yes I will do that ,but at the same time it is their job as the parent to do that. How are you reflecting Christianity to your children ?

What do you let them watch or do , how do you speak to them. How do you speak to other people ? How do you react when you are angry ? Are you consistent in what you say ? Do you daily read the bible and pray together at home , have you made it an absolutely mandatory thing in your home no questions asked .

I know someone would probably be like oh no you can’t force it on your child . I’m sorry but the world is already forcing things on your children, so don’t allow them to make you the fool who robs your child from the only thing that will protect them in the name of not forcing.

I am so passionate about serving God as a household because I have seen God in those moments. The bible says if you serve or worship God He will bless you bread and water , no sickness will come to you , you will be fruitful , He will lengthen the number your days . God has covered you just by serving Him alone and this does not even include prayer yet. Your service is so powerful and for you and your family. Just to clarify we don’t serve God because we want to be protected or because we want to be rewarded , or be loved , or to have blessing . We serve God as a sign of Gratitude for everything He has done. We serve God because we love Him and we are just responding back (to His actions) . God loves you and cares for you either way, because truthfully as people I don’t think there is anything we can do or not do to make God love us more, our efforts are nothing compared to what God has done and will do for us just on the basis of His love alone. When we do not serve God we just miss out on all God has to offer for us and our family.

If you are like I’m so single or I have no children how does this relate to me ? Well we have all been called to e fruitful meaning that even in your obedience to serving God you are still creating a seed in to someone else’s life and that’s also so amazing.

You can serve God is many ways : at work , at church , helping people with shopping , giving food to people , giving money to people who need it, sing songs to God , reading His word , being a helper to anyone you can think.

In building a legacy it important to remember its not just about your children but everyone around you . God loves you so much and He cares for every detail in your life and He wants the best for you. Our response to all this , is just to worship Him and love Him in the best way we know. Yes we may mess up , but God already knows that and He has already sent Jesus and the Holy Spirit to help with that.

So let’s start now.
